Flash from the Past: Brinke of Destruction #1

It's time to activate the Orwell Driller and jump down a Time Well to visit a title you'd find today in a Back Issue Box. It's December, 1995. It's High-Top Publishers and Brinke Stevens. It's Brinke of Destruction #1.

B-Movie Scream Queen Brinke Stevens came out with a series of comics in the mid-ninties. The first was Brinke of Eternity from Chaos Comics. The follow-up series 3-issue series was Brinke of Destruction.

The Playback Players:

Writers: Brinke Stevens and Todd A. Kaylor
Pencils: Mike Holliman
Inks: Ian
Colors and Lettering: Julie Ann Sczesny
Cover Artist: Boris Vallejo

In Brinke's comic series, she plays a member of the Guardian Elite, a race which implanted a device to cause the destruction of all inhabitable planets. Humanity has polluted and poisoned the planet Earth so much that the Celestial Council has decided that we were unworthy of our existence on the planet. Arcana, Brinke's half sister, was sent to bring about the Earth's destruction. Brinke, however, decided we needed a second chance. But after stopping Arcana, Brinke didn't realize that the mechanations of the destruction of the planet were still active and Armageddon was still set.

This brings Brinke back to Earth. Stripped of her Eternity power, Brinke and Alex have to figure out how to stop the end of the world.

The comic is a little rough with the art and panel placement, but the story is decent and...it's Brinke Stevens!

Rating: 3 1/2 Worms
