Headline: Doomed if You Do, Doomed if You Don't!
This just in...Dr. Doom contacted the Sinister Six for some jobs. We don'thave the full file on what all the Six did for Doom, but we do have confirmation that they stole the RS-Puddon super component from Stark Enterprises. During the theft, the Six encountered Stark bodyguard Iron Man and Dr. Strange, who was visiting Stark that day.
Paul Tobin, who discovered this previously unreported heist, shared detailed information about the Sinister Six's relationship with each other providing great characterization for the crew. Patrick Scherberger and Jacopo Camagni put together some interesting visuals depicting the events, although their manga style doesn't appeal to me. Tobin, Scherberger, and Camagni put together a light-hearted tale. Dr. Doom and "light-hearted" are rarely found together.
The Players:
Villains - Dr. Doom, Dr. Octopus, Mysterio, Sandman, Kraven the Hunter, Vulture, and Chameleon. We've got some high and low representations of evil here. Chameleon has always been about as bland as his all-white mask, and Vulture has always skirted below his potential. Possibly interesting, but not quite getting there. Kraven's ok, but he can be annoying and in this story, he is. Sandman's always been a fun guy to watch and same with Doc Ock, though here they don't have much room to entertain. Mysterio, though, steals the show and captures the limelight. His illusory antics are awlays sure to entertain. Dr. Doom can be annoying and usually is. He's just too much. I appreciate him as a villain, but he runs the patience thin really quickly. Luckily, he didn't play a large role in this episode, being primarily behind the scenes. We'll have to wait and see what his plans are...or were.
Heroes - Iron Man and Dr. Strange. Ok, let me just say it was nice seeing Dr. Strange get tricked! He's always a danger to a story by pulling out some sorcerous trickadoo that has never been seen before now. Iron Man, though, wavers between annoying and cool. Here, well, we didn't see him much, really, so he was fine.
News Rating - 3 Worms. Fun story, but sub-par characters on the whole and manga-ish art. We'll see the Masters of Evil next, and they have a more interesting roster. Enchantress, Rrrrrr.
