Spider-Man's a character whom I feel I should read more. I like the character, but I can never be satisfied with the writting. There were a few periods in the 80s and 90s where he held my attention...The days with the Acts of Vengeance megaevent, although they weren't called megaevents back then, the days of Cosmic Spider-Man, when the new series simply called Spider-Man started, when Erik Larsen drew and wrote Spider-Man. But mostly, his titles don't seem to hold my attention...Except Ultimate Spider-Man. Of course, it's Bendis. His skill with interesting plots and rivetting dialogue are legendary.

The original Clone Saga is reviled to this day as being overly complicated and convoluted and confusing giving even hardy Spider-Man fans convulsions of confusion. Well, Bendis doesn't shy away from the Clone Saga despite this reputation and gives us his own Clone Saga. So far we have at least 3 clones...Scorpion, a female Peter (which I look forward to when Peter figures this out and looks face to face at the female Peter...Petera? Petrina?), and the mastermind Peter who's doing the cloning. Naturally, someone had to clone the mastermind Peter, but we don't know who that is yet. Also, Gwen Stacey has been cloned.

Bendis does what he's famous for...giving us just enough information to keep us interested without revealing too much too soon, or not enough fast enough. His dialogue for Ultimate Petey is wonderful, as always. His confusion and freak-outedness used masterfully. The highlight is the fight between Peter (sans costume) and...Spider-Girl? Spider-Girl acts exactly like Spider-Man and she kicks his ass, which is just oddly funny. Of course, we know Petey's not very effective when freaked out. He's only really good when pissed off, or fighting someone lame like the Shocker.

4 1/2 Worms...I take a half worm off because Peter's freak out at the FF's Baxter Building seemed a little out of place. He went to them for help and revealed his identity.
Why wouldn't he give them a blood sample?
