Review: Moon Knight #3
*MOON SPOILERS BELOW*
Moon Knight #3
Written By: Charlie Huston
Drawn By: David Finch
I've always been a fan of Moon Knight. I think it's his costume. It's a cool looking costume. The hood with the face mask covering everything, the cape, the simple crescent moon...And all white! There's something eyecatching about all that white...
BUT! I've always had trouble staying interested in Moon Knight comics. I like Superhero comics...Moon Knight is rarely treated as a Superhero. He fights normal people. Deadly, but normal. He fights mercenaries. BOR-ing... It's the same problem I have with the Punisher (who's going to be dealing with super-baddies in his upcoming series Punisher War Journal, first issue due out September 13th. A Preview shows him dealing with Stilt-Man. HOW COOL IS THAT!?!)
Anyway, back on topic...Mercenaries wearing camoflage just aren't colorful to hold my interests. Plain clothed criminals make me yawn.
So, at this point, I'd like to give Charlie Huston a firm pat on the back and a thank you for writing the best Moon Knight I've seen since his Werewold by Night days...Thanks, Charlie.
Spectre is out of the vigilante biz...He's crippled having to use crutches. He's addicted to pain killers. And Konshu has apparently abandoned him. But The Committee wants to use Spectre for it's own purposes. Can they manipulate him into being the tool they need for their insidious purposes? Well, it looks that way until an incompetant makes the wrong move setting Marc back on the path to returning to his Moon Knight ways. So The Committee gets desperate and calls in Taskmaster.
Here, I have to thank Huston again. I always thought the Taskmaster was a great character. But then he showed up with Deadpool in the dull grey armor. He turned kind of lame. But Huston and Finch are treating him right. Taskmaster should be one of the deadliest villains out there. He can duplicate the fighting style of just about anyone: Captain America, Daredevil, Spider-Man, Wolverine. He also doesn't just mimic specific moves, so when he fights like Captain America he can only fight like Captain America. No, he can amalgamate these fighting styles. We only saw Taskmaster for a second, but it's clear Huston and Finch are going to use him correctly. They also put him back in his original costume, and Finch's art is kick ass, so he looks great!
I give Moon Knight #3...4 1/2 Worms. I have images to show the 4 1/2 Worms, but Blogger doesn't seem to want to upload the images...
Why 4 1/2 out of 5 Worms? I took a half worm off do to some confusing sequences where they were jumping back and forth between The Committee profiler talking about what should be done to manipulate Moon Knight and what Spectre's meeting with Frenchie.

i can't wait for the taskmaster fight. and I liked the back and forth. Huston, used the same technique as Meltzer in JLA 0, things said in one scene could be related to the next scene.
Yeah, it works alot of times. I can't remember what exactly confused me about some of the back and forth. I know I had trouble following the sequence with the guys getting beaten by Frenchie's leg...I don't have a problem with the technique, just I got lost a couple times.
Course, I may just be slow...
hey, just wanted to tell someone: I'm Frank Rodriguez in the letter's column, they didn't choose my title...
